What a carousel actually is
A carousel (Instagram calls it a "multi-image post") is one post holding two to twenty media items. They share a single link, which is why pasting that link is enough to reach all of them.
Step by step
1Copy the carousel linkIt is a normal post link (instagram.com/p/…). Carousels are not a separate link type.
2Paste and fetchPicVault reads the post and lists every photo inside it, in their original order.
3Pick or take everythingDownload individual photos, or grab the full set as a single ZIP.
If the carousel mixes photos and video
Some carousels contain both. PicVault shows the videos in their original position — marked so you can see the real order — but does not offer them as photo downloads. The site is for photos; for Instagram video there is a separate tool. Nothing opens automatically, and no button is pressed for you.
Order matters more than it looks. A carousel often tells a story in sequence, so the ZIP keeps the original positions rather than sorting by size or name.
Limits worth knowing before you start
- Public posts only — a private carousel cannot be read.
- Download links last 15 minutes. Re-resolve the post if they expire.
- Very large carousels may hit the service's size limits for a single ZIP; download the photos individually instead.
